Youth electrocuted while stealing transformer in Sylhet

A young man reportedly died from electrocution at Companiganj upazila in Sylhet district while stealing a transformer on Tuesday night.

The deceased is Arash Ali Fakir, resident of Dakghar village of Islampurpaschim union.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Companiganj police station Sukanta Chakraborty said the deceased was accused in a robbery case.

“Arash Ali was electrocuted while stealing a transformer on Tuesday night. The police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy,” he said.

“A group of thieves went to steal the transformer on Tuesday night. Arash Ali Fakir got electrocuted after a transformer was pulled down. He fell down from the top of the pole. The others who were with him left him dead. Later, on Wednesday morning, locals found Arash Ali's body and informed the police,” he added.
