The second phase of the Bishwa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslims after Hajj, began on the bank of the Turag River in Tongi, on the outskirts of Dhaka city, on Friday.
It will end on Sunday through “akheri munajat” (final prayers).
Muslims from home and abroad thronged the banks of the Turag to take part in the event to seek the divine blessings of Almighty Allah.
The first phase of the three-day Bishwa Ijtema ended on January 15.
Tabligh Jamaat has been organizing the congregation in Tongi since 1967. In 2011, it divided the Ijtema into two phases to accommodate a large number of attendees.
