Nurul Islam, the father of missing militant Al Amin from Comilla, has filed a case against 20 people, including the imam of a mosque, for involving his son in militancy.
He filed the case after appearing at Bandarban Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court on Tuesday afternoon.
Later, Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Imran ordered the Ruma police station to submit the investigation report within five days.
Some of the accused are Anisur Rahman, 32, Shamin Mahfuz, 47, Mosharraf Hossain, 34, Abdullah Maymun, 34, Maskur Rahman, 44, Syed Maruf Ahmed Manik, 31, Abdul Quader, Shah Mohammad Habiullah, Nathana Loncheo Bom, 50, Lal Mohan Bial alias Colonel Solomon, 50, and Vanchoor Lian, 43. Three of them are officers of the military wing of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF).
In the statement of the case, the plaintiff said that on August 25, his son left the house saying that he would go to Tabligh. Since then, there has been no trace of the youth.
Later, it was learned through the law and order forces that at the instigation of Imam Habibullah of the local Kuba Mosque, Al Amin was inspired by militancy and took refuge in the forest of Ruma upazila of Bandarban to undergo training. When he died in the forest of Ruma during training, other militants buried him there.
After hearing the news, Nurul Islam went to the spot and found the grave, but there was no trace of his son's body. So, he filed a case to punish all those who misled his son to the path of militancy and pushed him to his death.
Anti-militancy operations started in Bandarban last October based on the information that 55 members of the new militant organization Jama'atul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya were training in the remote hills of the mountainous region with the help of the hill organization KNF.
RAB arrested five militants from Bandarban's Thanchi and Rowangchhari on January 5.
Based on information from them about Al Amin's body, RAB conducted an operation to recover the body by helicopter. The grave was found but the body was not there.
Due to the joint operation of the security forces against militant organizations and the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) in the border area of Bandarban, a ban on tourist travel has been imposed since October 17. An indefinite ban is still in place in Thanchi, Ruma and Rowangchhari upazilas of the district.
