Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members in a drive seized nine foreign air guns from Darshana border in Chuadanga Saturday night.
None was arrested during the drive.
According to Chuadanga-6 BGB sources information that illegal arms shipment from India will enter Bangladesh through the Phulbari border area of Darshana police station, a team led by patrol commander Nayek Farooq Hossain took position near the border pillar 85/86.
At around 11pm, a man was seen entering Bangladesh with a sack on his head. The BGB personnel chased him so the man dropped the sack and ran away inside India.
Later, BGB recovered the sack containing nine state-of-the-art foreign air guns in three cartons inside it.
BGB-6 Commander Lt Col Shah Md Ishtiaq said that the proceedings of the case under the Illegal Arms Act are under process at Darshana police station. The airguns have been submitted to the police station.
