Dense fog over the Padma river suspended ferry service on Paturia-Daulatdia route for six hours on Tuesday.
Dense fog blanketed the river route, forcing to suspend the ferry movements at 3:45am.
The service resumed around 9:45am as the fog disappeared.
Several hundred vehicles with passengers and goods had to wait at both Paturia and Doulatdia ferry terminals through the early hours of the morning, triggering intense suffering of passengers and drivers amid bone-chilling cold.

Salah Uddin, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation of Daulatdia ghat branch, said that they decided to suspend the ferry to avoid ccidents due to thick fog.
The service resumed after six hours, he said.
He also said that vehicles are being crossed by 11 small and big ferries on this route. As there are enough ferries, the pressure will ease in no time, said the BIWTC official.
