The ferry and launch services on the Daulatdia-Paturia route resumed after five and half hours after being suspended due to dense fog on Monday morning.
The services were halted at around 5am. Later, when the fog cleared, the ferry services started again at around 10:30am, reports Bangla Tribune.
The services were halted to avoid accidents due to poor visibility, said Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Daulatdia Terminal Manager (trade) Md Salah Uddin.
He added that currently, vehicles are being crossed by 11 small and big ferries on this waterway.
Earlier in the day, several hundred vehicles were reportedly stuck on both sides of Padma River due to the suspension of the ferry services.
Due to this, passengers waiting on both sides of the river were suffering due to the biting cold.
