A Bangladeshi man was allegedly shot dead by Indian Khasias at the border area in Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet on Sunday.
The deceased is Abdus Salam, 60.
BGB-19 Commanding Officer Lt Col Asadunnabi told Dhaka Tribune that local residents informed them that he died at the hands of the Khasias.
Journalist Nurul Islam of Jaintapur said that around 9am on Sunday, local people saw Salam's body lying in the forest in Guabari border area and informed the patrol team of BGB. With the help of BGB, local people rescued him and brought him to Jaintapur Hospital. The doctor on duty at the hospital declared him dead.
A team of police force led by Jaintapur Model police station Officer (Investigation) Abdur Rab prepared a report of the body's condition at Jaintapur Hospital.
Jaintapur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Dastagir Ahmed said police rushed to the spot and hospital upon receiving the information.
The OC said that the body was sent to the Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem after making a report on the condition of the body at the hospital.
The family of the deceased and local residents said that there were no signs of injury on the body of the deceased, but there were serious injuries on the head.
