Accused in 18 cases, Gittu Jahangir arrested in Chittagong

The Rapid Action Battalion has arrested a man accused in 18 cases in Chittagong.

Jahangir Alam alias Gittu Jahangir, who the police said had been terrorizing Jungle Salimpur in Sitakunda upazila, was arrested in the area in a raid by RAB-7 late on Friday.

At that time, a pistol, a locally made SBBL and four cartridges were recovered from his possession. 

Senior Assistant Director of RAB-7 Nurul Abshar said Jahangir had been accused in 18 cases filed at different police stations in Chittagong over illegal possession of weapons, murder, robbery, etc.

He had admitted to carrying out various criminal activities including murder and robbery in Jungle Salimpur, the RAB official said.

Jahangir reportedly also told RAB he had been involved in hill razing and selling government plots.
