Leaders and activists of Satkhira district Chhatra League unit staged demonstration in front of sadar police station on Wednesday night protesting two policemen's misbehavior with the district unit president.
They suspended their protest following assurance of the police administration that the policemen will be withdrawn to police line.
The assurance came up following a fruitful discussion between Chhatra League leaders and police officials of sadar police station on Wednesday night.
The accused policemen are Ganesh, constable of sadar police station and Rashel of detective branch of police.
Sumon Hossain, general secretary of district unit Chhatra League, said that they brought out a victory rally on Wednesday afternoon to welcome the new Chhatra League committee.
At one stage, a scuffle ensued between two groups of BCL in front of Shilpakala Academy.
Two policemen came to them and threatened to detain them.
Meanwhile, Chhatra League district unit President Ashiqur Rahman came out of the auditorium and assured to settle the matter.
But Ganesh attacked President Ashiq and expressed his anger though he introduced him as BCL president. Later, DB policeman Rashel came to the spot and he also misbehaved with Ashiq.
Due to this incident, leaders of Chhatra League protested in front of Sadar police station.
Later, Fakhrul Alam, officer-in-charge of sadar police station, assured them that the policemen will be withdrawn.
District Chhatra League President Ashiqur Rahman said that the policemen have misbehaved with him over a trifling matter.
“We have suspended the protest following the assurance of OC,” he said.
Superintendent of Police Kazi Moniruzzaman told reporters on Wednesday that the misunderstanding has been resolved through discussion. The matter has been settled.
