Kushtia hosts number of events over Fifa final

There is no shortage of interest surrounding the Fifa World Cup final among the people of Kushtia.

Various arrangements are being made in Kushtia to enjoy the final game.

A large part of Kushtia are Argentina supporters and they did a motorcycle procession to greet their favourite team.

On Sunday afternoon, a procession left the Mirpur upazila football ground of Kushtia and circled the main road of the town. At this time, hundreds of people on motorcycles decorated with flag-festoons took part in the procession wearing Argentina's jersey. At this time, Messi's victory was chanted everywhere.

Journalist Humayun Kabir Himu, general secretary of Argentina Fan Club Mirpur upazila branch said: “We have some other arrangements around the final game. In the meantime, it has been organized to watch the game on the big screen. Apart from this there are cultural events. Finally, there is food arrangement.”

General Secretary Himu said that this may be the last World Cup of his favourite player Messi. “So, we want the title to rise in the hands of this football wizard.”

President of Argentina Fan Club Mirpur upazila branch Alhaz Mohammad Ali Joardar said: “Lionel Messi, a football whiz, is the most well-known player in the world today after Diego Maradona. Additionally, this World Cup might be his last. The World Cup championship would make Messi's final tournament memorable.”
