Lottery admissions: Khulna student gets nine seats using fake documents

A student from Khulna got chance to get admitted to a local school nine times, after putting several entries into the lottery system for admission, using fake names, birth certificate registration numbers, and pictures.

The student got chances into Khulna's Government Coronation Secondary Girls' School's morning shift eight times, and another in the morning shift.

Although the girl's name is different in each form, the father's name is Aniruddha Sardar, and the mother's name is Nipa Roy in all of them.

The girl's name is sometimes given as Anindita Sardar Akhi, or Ankita Sardar Nirjh, or Ankita Sardar.

They have also used several different mobile phone numbers in the forms.

Dhaka Tribune managed to get a hold of one of the numbers and talked to the mother of the student, Nipa Roy.

She said that her daughter is a fifth-grader, but she does not know how the forms had different names and other information in them.

Meanwhile, after the results were published at the school's gate, other parents who were present there expressed their displeasure with the issue.

According to them, other students were denied admission as a result of the incident, as one student occupied nine seats of the school.

Khandkar Yasir Arefin, deputy commissioner of Khulna said that he had heard the matter. “Necessary action will be taken after an investigation.”

Farhana Naz, headmaster of Khulna Zilla School and member secretary of the admission committee, said that the incident is a bad example of the system.

“Exemplary steps will be taken in this regard,” she added.

Meanwhile, Makami Maksuda, headmaster of Government Coronation Secondary Girls' School said that the matter will be formally informed to the district commissioner at a meeting.

Besides, she noted that she would inform the matter to the director general of the Directorate Of Secondary and Higher Education on Tuesday.
