HSC examinee stabbed in front of test centre in Patuakhali

An HSC examinee was stabbed in front of his test centre in Patuakhali on Thursday.

The injured is Faisal Akon, 18, son of Bellal Akan of Hajikhali village in Motherbunia union of Patuakhali Sadar upazila and a science student of Patuakhali Government College.

The incident took place in front of the Abdul Karim Mridha College examination centre in Patuakhali at 1:30pm.

He was admitted to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital with serious injuries.

Faisal said he went to the Abdul Karim Mridha College centre to attend his Biology Second Paper exam. When he came out after the exam, five-six people forcibly took him from the gate of the centre and started beating him up.

He also said that one Jasim, 22, attacked him in his hand and back with a knife. He could not tell the reason behind the attack.

Later, he managed to flee the spot to the college principal's room and took shelter there. 

Acting principal of Patuakhali Abdul Karim Mridha College ANM Saifuddin said the injured student was quickly sent to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital. 

He further said: “While the incident took place outside the college, he ran to my room to take shelter while bleeding profusely.”

Meanwhile, Patuakhali Government College Teachers' Council Secretary and Bangla Department Assistant Professor Gazi Zafar Iqbal said action will be taken by the college. The student has to take the Agriculture exam on Sunday. 

“If he is not able to give the exam by hand, we should arrange for an alternative method as per the rules,” he added.

The on-duty doctors at Patuakhali Medical College Hospital said Faisal has injuries on his back and right shoulder.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patuakhali Sadar police station Moniruzzaman said police were sent to the spot. Action will be taken if a complaint is received, he added.
