A total of 730 patients have been hospitalized with dengue in Khulna division since the beginning of September.
At the same time, seven people succumbed to death while fighting the mosquito-borne disease in the division.
Khulna District Civil Surgeon Dr Sujat Ahmed confirmed the matter on Sunday saying that a total of 81 dengue patients are still under treatment in Khulna Medical College Hospital.
He said with dengue cases being reported across the country, all upazila health complexes in Khulna took necessarry measures to identify the viral fever patients.
Dr Suhas Ranjan Halder of Khulna Medical College Hospital said: “81 people are admitted at the hospital till 8am on Monday. 13 new admissions have been made in the last 24 hours. 6 people went home after recovery.”
Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Moniruzzaman Talukder said: “The outbreak of dengue disease is being noticed all over the country including Khulna. At this time, city corporations, municipalities and upazila parishads have to take effective measures to prevent the spread of mosquitoes.”
