Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested eight members of a question paper leak gang from Bhabaniganj area of Bagmara upazila in Rajshahi early Friday.
The arrestees are Morshedul Islam, 49, the leader of the gang, Momin Mandal, 21, Jakirul Islam, 37, lecturer of Adarsha Technical and BM College, Shahsul Islam, 45, lecturer of the same college, Touhidul Islam Jonny, 33, lecturer of Kalita Sabuj Sangha Adarsha High School and College, Dulal Hossain, 48, Shariful Islam, 25 and Tofayel Hossain, 33.
The matter was confirmed in a press release issued by RAB-5 on Friday afternoon.
A RAB team of Mollapara camp conducted a drive in Bhabaniganj around 2:30am and arrested the accused, who leaked question papers for Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), according to the press release.
During the drive, one set of HSC original question paper, five guide books, 200 sets of answer sheets of leaked questions, two photocopy machines, seven mobile phones and nine SIM cards were seized.
The gang used to collect question papers during exams, prepare the answer sheets and sold them to the examinees at a low cost, according to RAB sources.
