Samadul Haque, in-charge of Chuadanga Meteorological Office, said that the lowest temperature recorded in the district was 13.4°C at 6am on Monday.
This is the lowest temperature of this winter season in the country and in this district, said the official.
Chuadanga Sadar Hospital's child consultant Asadur Rahman Malik Khokon said: "Because of the change in weather and the sudden drop in temperature, children and the elderly people are being more infected by cold-related diseases.”
“It feels cold in the morning, evening and night and hot at noon and in the afternoon. Diseases are being spread due to weather variation. At this time, children and the elderly should be extra careful,” he added.
Meanwhile, Tetulia, the coldest upazila in Bangladesh's northernmost district, also started to feel the bite of the winter season.
Md Roknuzzaman, an official of Tetulia Meteorological Observatory said that the minimum temperature of 15°C was recorded on Monday. It is the lowest temperature of the winter season.
A temperature of 13.9°C was recorded on this day last month. This time, winter is coming a little later than last time. The temperature is gradually falling down, said the official.
However, the temperature fluctuates between 28°C and 30°C during the day. Due to this, it feels hot during the day.

Local people also said that the weather remains warm during the daytime. But after midnight, they feel mild cold as fog covers the area.
A van driver Ishahak Ali said it will not be possible to buy warm clothes as the prices of daily necessities have gone up.
Van driver Sair Uddin said that due to winter, the income has decreased. It is not being possible to run a family. “We don't know how the upcoming days will pass.”
Kazi Matiur Rahman, director of Tentulia's voluntary organization Green Tentulia Clean Tentulia said that winter clothes should be distributed for the cold people by government and private sector at the beginning of the season. Distribution of winter clothes at the end of winter is unnecessary.
