Medicines and vaccines made in Bangladesh are now being exported to other foreign countries, Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said.
“Bangladesh has progressed in the pharmaceutical industry. We now produce quality medicines and vaccines, which are exported abroad” he said at a program in Khulna on Thursday.
The minister later said that Bangladeshi people should be careful about antibiotic intake. He urged the countrymen not to use them indiscriminately and to only take them when prescribed.
Zahid Maleque also said that the government has brought healthcare to people's doorsteps through community clinics.
“The number of beds in the country's government hospitals is now 60,000. The government has also appointed 20,000 doctors and 25,000 nurses in the past few years to improve the quality of Bangladesh's healthcare system,” he added.
