Construction of first turbine of Cox’s Bazar wind power plant completed

State Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that the first turbine of the country's largest wind power plant, which is being constructed in Khurushkul area of Cox's Bazar, has been completed successfully.

The state minister disclosed this information on his verified Facebook page on Monday.

“We expect the power generation to start from May-June 2023,” the post read.

“This project will show Bangladesh a new way to produce environmentally friendly energy”, the post added.

Earlier on March 31, the state minister laid the foundation stone of the country's first wind power project in Khurushkul of Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila. 

The wind power plant would generate 60MW of electricity upon project completion.

According to the Electricity Department, apart from this project in Khurushkul, another wind power project with 50MW power generation capacity will be constructed at Inani in Cox's Bazar.
