A mobile court of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has fined a rice trading company for hoarding over 100,200 kgs of rice in their store in Bagerhat’s Nagerbazar area.
Saha and Brothers was fined Tk15,000 for the offence on Wednesday.
RAB-6 Director Lt Col Mohammad Mostafa Ahmad confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said that the law enforcers raided the store on a tip off and found irregularities in their bookkeeping. Later, they searched the store and found the huge amount of rice stocked illegally.
An executive magistrate also ordered officials to seize the rice found at the store and sell them in the retail market within 24 hours.
