Five injured in clash between Chittagong Chhatra League factions

Five activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League were reportedly injured in a clash between its two groups in front of the hostel gate of Chittagong College on Wednesday evening.

It has been alleged that the clash happened between the followers of college Chhatra League President Mahmudul Karim and General Secretary Subhash Mallik Sabuj.

Among the injured, three are known to be followers of the president and two of the general secretary. Three of the injured people were treated at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

The college Chhatra League President Mahmudul Karim claimed that supporters of General Secretary Subhash Mallik Sabuj started the attack without any cause.

“The attack took place to dominate the college campus,” he added.

However, the general secretary denied his or his supporters’ involvement in the attack.

Injured Mehraj Siddiqui Pavel said: "We were attacked by the followers of the general secretary of the college without any reason. They had beaten us to scare us into joining them."

Chowkbazar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manjurul Quader confirmed the matter, adding: “We will investigate into the matter. So far, none have filed any complaint with police.”
