Bodies of 3 missing girls recovered from Arial Khan river

The bodies of three minor girls, who had gone missing in the Arial  Khan river of Belabo upazila in Narsingdi on Sunday noon, were recovered at night.

The bodies were recovered from an area adjacent to Birkanda ghat nine hours after their disappearance, said Farid Uddin Khan, inspector (investigation), confirming the matter. 

The deceased were identified as Jhuma Akhter, 9, daughter of Kashem Miah, Shipa Akhter, 11, daughter of Kasiser Miah and Halima Akhter, 9, daughter of late Faruk Miah. They were friends. 

Quoting family members, the police officer said that when it was raining at noon, the three friends went to the river to take a bath without informing family members.

However, the family members started to search for them as they were not at home till afternoon.

Later, locals spotted their floating bodies at night and informed police.

However, the bodies were handed over to family members without autopsy, as there were no complaints from their sides, said the inspector.
