Gazipur thief falls to death from 3rd floor

A 42-year-old thief was allegedly killed after falling from the third floor of a building and landing on rods of a boundary wall in Gazipur.

The incident was reported from the district’s Shanti Bagh area on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Babul Islam, son of Nurul Islam of Mirzapur upazila.

Gazipur Sadar police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shiblu Mia said locals found the body and notified them of the matter.

“The neck and right leg of the deceased were impaled by the iron rods. However, how he fell will be confirmed after an investigation,” he added.

However, locals said Babul may have fallen when he was trying to jump to another building from that floor.

The body has been sent to the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Gazipur unit Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) SP Mohammad Maksudar Rahman said after receiving the information, a team went to the spot and collected fingerprints of the victim and identified him.
