A 10-month-old baby has died after choking on her mother’s milk in Tala upazila of Satkhira.
Nafija, the only child of Md Kamrul Islam and Hafija, died on the way to the hospital on Thursday afternoon.
Local resident Al Mamun said Kamrul and Hafiza got married in 2019 and they welcomed their first child in January this year.
Kamruzzaman Lipu, chairman of the local Nagarghata union parishad, told Dhaka Tribune the body would be buried after a namaz-e-janaza at night.
Dr Abul Bashar Arman of Satkhira Children's Hospital said babies could choke to death if they inhaled milk brought up the nose into the trachea during breastfeeding due to uncomfortable lying positions.
The police would look into the baby’s death, Inspector Biswajit Mandal of Patkelghata police station said.
