A prize of Tk50 lakh has been announced from Envoy Group Chairman Sabrina Salam's personal fund for the women's football team who won the Saff championship trophy on Monday.
Bangladesh Football Federation Senior Vice-President Abdus Salam Murshedy made the announcement through a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon.
The post said: “The girls of Bangladesh became champion for the first time.”
Impressed by the performance of the girls, Bangladesh Football Federation Senior Vice-President Abdus Salam Murshedi MP's wife, Envoy Group Chairman Sabrina Salam announced a monetary award of Tk50 lakh to the women's football team from her personal fund, the post added.
Bangladesh won the maiden Saff Women’s Football Championship by beating hosts Nepal 3-1 in the final in Kathmandu on Monday.
Bangladesh beat Maldives, Pakistan, India and Nepal on their way to the ultimate victory. Bangladesh scored 23 goals in the event and conceded only one in the final.
