Police on Monday arrested three people in a case filed over the gas balloon blast at Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP)’s fourth anniversary program and left Bangladeshi stand-up comedian Abu Hena Rony and four policemen injured.
The arrestees are Babul, 52, Manik Mia, 40, Kibria, 50. They were in charge of delivering the balloons at the event.
On Saturday, Gazipur Sadar police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mosabbir Hossain filed the case accusing the three people, said GMP Assistant Commissioner (Media) Abu Sayem.
On the other hand, a probe body was formed by GMP to investigate the incident on Saturday.
The committee was asked to submit a report within three working days.
On September 16, Bangladeshi stand-up comedian Abu Hena Rony and four others sustained burn injuries in a gas blast on the fourth founding anniversary event of GMP.
Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Rafiqul Islam said the injured – Rony, Mosharraf Hossain, Zillur Rahman, Imran Hossain and Rubel Hossain – had been rushed to the hospital.
Later, Rony, Mosharraf Hossain and Zillur were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, he said.
Around 25% of the surface area of the comedian’s body was burnt, the physician added.
