A case has been filed on the charge of raping and murdering a seven-year-old child in the Port Colony area of Chittagong city.
On Sunday night, the victim's father filed a case with Bandar police station against the unidentified accused.
Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bandar police station, said: "We are trying to arrest the accused.”
Earlier on Sunday afternoon, police recovered the body of the child from inside an abandoned house in the Port Colony area of Bandar police station in the city.

Police and eyewitnesses said a rickshaw puller lured the girl by promising to buy biriani for her on Saturday.
Later, locals found the victim’s body in the abandoned house in Port Colony area around 11:00am on Sunday.
Police rushed to the spot after receiving the news while the relatives of the child went to the spot and identified the body.
The child's father is a rickshaw puller by profession and her mother is a domestic worker.
“I want justice for my daughter's murder,” the father said.
