Bangladeshi injured in mine explosion near Myanmar border moved to CMCH

A Bangladeshi severely injured in a landmine explosion on the Myanmar side of the border along Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban has been transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) from Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for better treatment.

Athwaing Tangchangya, 22, was moved to the emergency unit of the Chittagong hospital on Friday night, Panchlaish police station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Sadekur Rahman said.

His left leg was blown off from knee down in the explosion.

Tangchangya’s mother, Yang Me Chakma, said the mine went off when he crossed the border to bring his cattle back from Myanmar.

Tangchangya was first admitted to Kutupalong MSF Hospital and then to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.

The Border Guard Bangladesh has stepped up patrols and surveillance near the border following the incident.
