A clash between two factions of Chhatra League’s Chittagong University unit over a dorm room left four people on either side injured and the same number of rooms vandalized.
The skirmish took place at Shaheed Abdur Rab Hall of the university in the early hours of Friday.
The two groups involved are “Banglar Mukh” and “Ekakar”.
“Banglar Mukh” leader Abu Bakar Toha, a vice president of the unit, and “Ekakar” leader Mainul Islam Russel, who is another vice president of the same body, traded blame for clashes that had erupted between the two groups.
CU Proctor Dr Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan said members of the university proctorial team along with policemen had visited the spot and that the situation was under control now.
A committee would probe into the incident to hold those involved accountable, he added.
