Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General Abdullah Al Mamun on Monday said Bangladesh is a role model for the world in eradicating militancy.
“The members of RAB have played an important role in suppressing terrorists, pirates and militants. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared the Sundarbans free of piracy. Besides, the country is now militant free,” he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a workshop at RAB-15 office in Cox’s Bazar around 11am on Monday.
RAB is working tirelessly to eradicate drugs as well. However, the problem did not develop in a day, so its eradication is not possible in a short time. So a prolonged operation is required in this regard, said the RAB DG.
He further said that the current situation in Cox’s Bazar is much better than before. Law enforcement agencies and all citizens of the country should work together to stop the demand and supply of drugs.
Perpetrators should bring back to normal life through various action-oriented plans. Many of the militants have been brought back to normal life till date, he added.
Lt Col Khairul Islam Sarkar, captain of RAB-15, Mahfuzul Islam, superintendent of police of Cox’s Bazar, Md Rezaul Karim, additional superintendent of police of Tourist Police, were present among others in the workshop.
