Diarrhoea: 159 patients hospitalized in Chittagong in 24 hours

As many as 159 diarrhoea patients were hospitalized in 24 hours in Chittagong on Tuesday. 

Among them, 94 patients are being treated in 13 upazilas of the district, while 50 are being treated at Chittagong Maa-O-Shishu Hospital, Chittagong Civil Surgeon Office District Health Supervisor Sujan Barua said.

The rest of the 15 patients are undergoing treatment at the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID), reports Bangla Tribune.

Meanwhile, a total of 368 diarrhoea patients have been admitted to BITID in the last nine days. 

Besides, out of the 93 samples tested at the hospital showed that 42 patients have cholera germs in their bodies.

Meanwhile, Dr Nurul Haque from Chittagong Maa-O-Shishu Hospital told Bangla Tribune that 50 patients with diarrhea have been admitted to the hospital on Tuesday alone. 

She also noted that since August 15, the number of patients suffering from diarrhoea has been increasing in this hospital.
