Khulna tank-lorry owners go on strike demanding raise in commission, rent

Khulna Tank-Lorry Owners Association stopped fuel extraction from the depots on Sunday morning demanding an increase in commission and rent after the price hike of fuel.

The strike will be observed for 24 hours, said Saroj Das, secretary of Tank-Lorry Owners Association.

He said that, since 6am on Sunday, Bangladesh Tanker Owners Association and Fuel Oil Pump Owners Association (Khulna Division) have stopped the extraction of fuel oil from any depot.

“Even though the price of oil has increased, the rent and commission of tankers have not been increased. Therefore, this strike is going on demanding payment of 7.5% of the current price of fuel oil per litre and an increase in rent,” he added.

Currently, a commission of Tk2.71 per litre of fuel oil (previous price) is given.

In the past, the tank-lorry and fuel pump owners applied to the concerned department several times for an increase in commission but did not get any result. In addition, the price of fuel oil has increased many times.
