A case has been filed against five people in connection with the rape of a schoolgirl in Manikganj Sadar upazila on Friday.
The accused are Siyam Hossain, 18, Akash Hossain, 18, Md Raju, 19, Riyad, 18, and Yeasin Hossain, 19.
Confirming the matter, Abdur Rauf Sarkar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Manikganj Sadar police station, said the victim’s mother filed the case against the five in the morning.
According to the family members of the victim, the girl is a sisth-grader in a secondary school in the upazila.
On her way to school, Siyam Hossain of the same village used to tease her.
On July 16, Siam forcefully took the girl to Akash’s house and raped her. The accused four others were keeping watch outside the house.
The victim told her mother about the incident later that evening. The girl was admitted to the Mankiganj District Hospital for treatment.
OC Abdur Rauf said the accused have been absconding since the incident. “However, efforts underway to nab them as soon as possible.”
