Firefighter Fariduzzaman Farid, who went missing after the massive fire at BM container depot at Sitakunda in Chittagong, has not been found yet even after 36 hours.
Farid, son of Saiful Islam, and Fulmati Begum of Dakshinpara village in Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur, was stationed at Sitakunda Fire Station, and went to fight the fire which started on Saturday night.
He had joined the fire service just two years ago.
Both of the fireman’s parents have repeatedly lost consciousness over the news of their son’s disappearance, and have been kept under observation with saline by doctors.
Saiful Islam informed Dhaka Tribune that he had talked to Farid last on June 4. On that day, Farid assured that he would celebrate Eid-al-Azha with his family this year.
He mentioned that he has been trying to call Farid on his phone for the last 36 hours, but failed to hear his son’s voice for a moment.
