A 47-year-old female UP member (reserved seat) has been raped by another UP member for two days in Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi district.
The female UP member, mother of three children, lodged a complaint against five people including UP member Mojibor Rahman with Mohonpur police station on Friday, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Touhidul Islam.
Police arrested five people in this connection.
According to the case statement, Mojibur developed an extramarital relationship with the female UP member and took her to a house on Wednesday, promising to marry her.
The accused later raped her for two days at that house.
On Friday, Mojibor fled, keeping the rape survivor alone there.
Later, Mojibor’s relatives drove her out of the house, and the survivor made a phone call to the national emergency helpline 999.
Later police took her to the one stop crisis centre of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.
Efforts are on to arrest the prime accused, said the OC.
