Police on Sunday detained a man for allegedly killing his father in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat over a family dispute.
Sultan Mahmud, 32, had struck his father Abdul Qader, 70, in the head with a leg of a bed, leaving the septuagenarian dead on the spot, said Panchbibi police station OC Palash Chandra Dev.
The body is currently at Joypurhat Modern District Hospital.
A case would soon be filed in connection with the killing, said the police officer.
