Man attempts suicide after 'slitting throats of wife, daughters' in Manikganj

A man has tried to commit suicide after allegedly slitting the throats of his wife and two daughters in Ghior upazila of Manikganj.

The incident was reported from Angurpara village early on Sunday, said Ghior police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Riaz Uddin Ahmed Biplob.

Locals rescued Asadur Rahman Rubel, 40, when he tried to put his head under moving cars on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway, before turning him over to the police.

The deceased are Rubel’s wife Lovely Akhter, 35, and daughters Chhoa Akhter, 16, and Kotha Akhter, 12.

“Locals informed us after spotting three bodies at Rubel’s house around 5am on Sunday. We suspect that he killed his family with sharp weapons over a dispute,” OC Biplob said.
