Man arrested for Tangail businessman murder

Police arrested a man in connection with a  murder of a furniture trader in Tangail, one and a half months after the case was filed.

The arrestee Yasin Mia, 19, hails from Gadurgati village under the Sadar Upazila. He used to work under the furniture trader–Shamsul.

He was arrested on Saturday during a joint operation by police and detectives from Santosh Bagbari area of Tangail.

Sarkar Mohammad Kaiser, superintendent of police, confirmed the matter at a press conference on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, Yasin beat Shamsul to death after being accused of theft.

Meanwhile, Yasin gave his confessional statement at the court of District Senior Judicial Magistrate Shamsul Alam. The court sent him to jail.

Police also seized Shamsul’s mobile phone from the possession of the accused. 

Earlier on January 24, the victim’s body was recovered from a pond.

The next day, Shamsul’s brother advocate Shamim Al Mamun filed a case against with Tangail Sadar Police Station.
