Jubo League, BNP clash leaves 26 injured in Patuakhali

At least 26 people including police were injured when a clash broke out between Jubo League men and BNP activists in Patuakhali on Saturday.

The clash took place in front of the local BNP office at around 10:30am, said Abdus Salam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dumki police station. 

Witnesses said that over than a hundred BNP leaders and activists gathered in front of the party office to protest the recent price hike of commodities in the morning. Another procession organized by Jubo League marched through the same area. 

Supporters of the two groups clashed on the spot and threw brick chips at each other. Leaders and activists of Jubo League broke into the BNP office and vandalized furniture.  

Upon receiving the news, police rushed to the spot brought the situation under control.

One of the Injured BNP leaders, Khalilur Rahman alleged that the incident has left at least 20 partymen injured.
