The intensity of winter is likely to increase from Friday across the country accompanied by thick fog and cold waves, suggests forecast by the Met office.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds is likely to occur at a few places over Rajshahi, Khulna, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Barisal and Chittagong divisions,” said a Met office bulletin.
Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the northwestern parts and river basins of the country and light to moderate fog may occur at places elsewhere over the country during midnight to morning.
People all over the country may experience thick fog throughout Friday, said Meteorologist Omor Faruque.
Cold waves may sweep over the country (Friday) or the day after although the sun is also expected to show up for a while during the day, he said.
Night temperature may drop by 1-2°C and the daytime temperatures may drop by 2-3°C, said the forecast.
The lowest temperature was recorded at 10.2°C in Syedpur on Thursday.
