One person was killed in Jamalpur on Saturday, when a clash erupted between supporters of two candidates of the upcoming Union Parishad (UP) elections.
At least 10 others were injured in the incident at a village in Sharishabari upazila ahead of the January 31 voting, said police.
The deceased has been identified as 56-year-old Bhola Sheikh.
The clash between supporters of member candidates Nurul Islam and Sujat Ali Suruj at the Char Nalsandhya village broke out around 11am, said Inspector Abdul Latif of the police’s local Tarakandi Investigation Center.
Bhola Sheikh, who was campaigning for Nurul, died on the spot, he said before adding that any arrests were yet to be made.
