Skull, bones recovered from Lawachara forest in Moulvibazar

A human skull and several skeletons were recovered from the forest dormitory area of Lawachara National Park in Moulvibazar on Monday evening.

Banu Bauri, a tea worker at Phulbari Tea Garden in the area, saw the skeleton and informed the police.

Later, police came and recovered them, Inspector Sohail Rana of Kamalganj police station, confirmed to Bangla Tribune.

He said the recovered skull and bones had been sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital. “A medical report will reveal further details.”

“Asid Ali’s sister had gone missing six months ago. A DNA test will be needed to ensure if it’s her body or not,” he added.

However, Asid Ali, chairman of Madhabpur Union Parishad of Kamalganj upazila, claimed that the rescued skull and bones were his missing 50-year-old sister Hajera Bibi’s.

He said: “Looking at the sari, it seems like it’s her.”
