On Saturday, doctors at Faridpur’s BSMMC removed a pair of surgical scissors from inside the patient’s stomach, after discovering it on Wednesday when the patient was rushed to a local hospital after she complained of severe stomach pain.

On March 3, 2020, the patient, 18-year-old Monira Khatun, of Gopalganj’s Muksudpur, underwent a stomach surgery at the BSMMU Hospital.

Saifur Rahman, the director at BSMMC, said Monira was undergoing treatment at the hospital. “Her condition is improving.”

The doctors said it would take at least a week for her to recover from the latest surgery.

Monira’s mother Rahela Begum said: “My daughter's life is ruined. She lost control over her normal bowel movements.”

Faridpur Civil Surgeon Siddiqur Rahman blamed the negligence of the doctor over the incident.

Meanwhile, Faridpur Additional District Magistrate Liton Mia visited Monira at the hospital and inquired about her physical condition.

Monira’s family said they were facing financial difficulties to bear the cost of the medical procedures.
