Detective Branch takes over journalist Nadim murder investigation

The Detective Branch of police has taken over the investigation into the murder of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim, the Jamalpur district correspondent for Banglanews24.com.

“The case was handed over to us yesterday (Monday) for further investigation, and there has been a lot of progress already,” Inspector Arman Ali of the specialized police unit told Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday.

He hoped that those still on the run would be arrested soon, before saying that the arrested were being interrogated.

Golam Rabbani Nadim, 43, came under attack by some 14-15 people on June 14 on his way home after work in Bokshiganj.

Critically injured in the attack, Nadim was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where he passed away the next day.

Shadurpara Upazila Parishad Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu, the key accused in a case filed over the killing, has since been arrested and suspended from both his party, the Awami League, and as chairman.

Law enforcement agencies have made several other arrests in this connection as well.
