Journalist Nadim murder: CCTV footage helps police detain 6 suspects

The police have so far detained six people suspected to be involved in the killing of Jamalpur journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim's murder in Bakshiganj upazila.

The law enforcement agency identified them from CCTV footage and apprehended them by conducting raids throughout Thursday night.

The six are Golam Kibria Sumon, Mohammad Tofazzal Hossain, Ainal Haque, Kofil Uddin, Shahid and Fazlu.

Around 10 to 12 people attacked Nadim when he was returning home on Wednesday night after work. He died the next day while undergoing treatment.

The blame for the killing has been directed towards Sadhurpara Union Parishad Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu.

Nadim's son Abdullah Al Mamun Rifat said legal action will be taken against Babu and his son Fahim Rifat.

Babu has been in hiding since the incident and could not be reached over the phone.

Bakshiganj police station Officer-in-Charge Sohail Rana said the police are trying to nab Babu as well.

“No matter how influential a criminal is, he must be brought under the law. If the family makes a complaint, a case will be registered and the suspects will be presented in court."
