One killed in gunfight between two regional groups in ​​Khagrachhari

A UPDF supporter was killed on Monday in the massive firing of two groups over establishing supremacy in the Matiranga area of Khagrachhari.

Upon receiving the information, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrived at the spot and recovered the body of the deceased, Uttam Tripura. 

They also seized a firearm and bullets from the scene.

The shootings took place in the remote Sukumar Karbari neighborhood of Taindong Union in the early hours. 

Local sources claim they heard the sound of gunfire between the members of UPDF chief and UPDF democratic. 

They claim the fight could have broken out due to internal conflicts within UPDF.

In this regard, Matiranga police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Ali said: “The body of the deceased will be sent to Khagrachari Modern Sadar Hospital for autopsy.”

In a press release, United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) strongly condemned and protested the death of the UPDF supporter and the injured member and demanded the immediate arrest of the killers and attackers.

Anga Marma, convener of Khagrachhari unit of UPDF, said that even though the government and the army talk about the crackdown on “terrorists” and “illegal rescue”, they are nurturing the terrorists and killing them in the hills while establishing a reign of terror including kidnapping, extortion.
