A man was killed in a clash over a ritual of hiding the groom's shoes at a wedding in Mymensigh’s Phulbari upazila.
The deceased has been identified as the groom’s father, Md Ruhul Amin, said SI Swapan Mia of Phulbaria police station.
The incident took place at around 5:30pm on Tuesday, at Koraitala village of Kushmail union.
Locals said after the wedding ceremony of Maruf Hossain and Marufa Akhter, some guests from the bride’s side hid the groom’s shoes.
Ruhul Amin got into an argument with the bride’s family over the matter, leading to a clash.
At one point, he collapsed on the ground and was rushed to the Phulbaria Upazila Health Complex. He was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The SI said the body was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
"The family of the deceased did not file a complaint regarding the incident. We will take legal action if they do so,” he added.
