Chittagong Customs House on Tuesday issued a notice with new instructions to importers in light of the devastating fire at BM Container Depot in Chittagong’s Sitakunda.
It said shipments of goods imported through seaports must be redeemed within 30 days of landing at the port and within 21 days of landing at the airport, or in both cases within the additional time limit allowed by the customs authorities.

The notice added that importers are not unloading their imported goods within the stipulated time, urging them to expedite the process.
Otherwise, the consignment of unsold goods will be disposed of in accordance with the rules and regulations (sale by auction) within the specified period.
