Fire at Khulna ACC office destroys ‘important’ documents

A fire on the second floor of the Anti-Corruption Commission’s Khulna divisional office has resulted in the destruction of many files and furniture.

Witnesses reported smoke billowing from the windows of the building at around 5:45pm on Thursday.

Two firefighting units rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control in 45 minutes.

ACC Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) Md Kamruzzaman said the flames had destroyed many important documents.

As work ended at 5pm, most employees had left the building by then, he said.

No casualties were reported.

Azizur Rahman of the Khulna Fire Service office said the blaze could not spread due to prompt action, but it managed to lay waste to all documents in one of the rooms of the ACC building.
