A connecting bridge of the launch terminal at Daulatdia ferry ghat in Rajbari was damaged as a nor’wester swept over the district early Tuesday.
Twelve boats anchored at the terminal were also destroyed in the storm.
Terminal authorities have already started repair work to prevent further damage as the holidaymakers of 21 southern districts will be returning to the capital using the ferry ghat soon.

Goalanda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Azizul Haque said that officials of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) were working to address the issue.
Before Eid, the BIWTA authorities repaired the connecting bridge to ensure smooth travel of the passengers. But, due to the storm early Tuesday, the river bank eroded, making the bridge non-functional.
BIWTA Assistant Engineer in Aricha Md Shahidul Islam hoped that they would be able to repair the bridge very soon.
