Four killed in clash over supremacy in Kushtia

At least four people were killed and 15 to 20 others sustained injuries when two groups of villagers clashed over supremacy at Asthanagar of Kushtia on Monday.

Mustafizur Rahman Ratan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Islami University police station, confirmed the matter.

The deceased were identified as Rahim, 55, Kashem, 50, Lallu, 40, and Motiar.

The OC said that there was a longstanding dispute among supporters of Keramot and Fazlu of Asthanagar over supremacy.

“The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Kushtia General Hospital and two of them are in critical condition,” he said.

On Monday afternoon, the two groups engaged in a clash leaving four people dead and 15 to 20 others injured, the OC added.

He said that police were conducting raids to arrest the killers.
