Fisherman fights back after tiger attacks him in Sundarbans, returns alive

A fisherman returned alive after he was attacked by a tiger while catching fish in a canal of the Sundarbans on Sunday.

Saleh Akon was admitted to the Mongla Upazila Health Complex with critical injuries.

Dr Faisal said that there were wound marks on Saleh's hand, back and head from the tiger attack. The patient was out of danger, he added.

Saleh said that he was trying to catch fish from the small canals in the Sundarbans on Sunday morning.

Having failed in his attempts, he went inside the forest to catch fish from the Shuar Mara canal and threw his net in the canal.

A tiger with a length of 7-8 feet attacked Saleh from his back. The beast tried to choke him in the sloughy land of the canal and bit him on his hand.

However, Saleh carefully scuffled with the tiger for 5 to 7 minutes and the tiger left him for a moment.

When the tiger attempted to attack Saleh for the second time, he frightened the tiger with a chopper and a stick near him.

The tiger then returned to the jungle and Saleh was taken to hospital after coming back home in bloody condition.
